About This Show

Old King Lear, weary of royal duties, proposes to break up his kingdom and divide it among his three daughters. But this rash generosity is cruelly repaid leaving Lear to discover much too late that the life he led was based on false values. He soon experiences firsthand the suffering common to all humanity. Direct from London and starring Joseph Marcell of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fame, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre presents a faithful restaging of King Lear that’s filled with tempestuous poetry, touches of humor and moments of heart-rending simplicity.
