Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge

Playwright Christopher Durang comes at Christmas from a very oblique angle for Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge. Mrs. Cratchit has had quite enough, thank you. With the burden of Tiny Tim and 29 other foundlings in the basement, she becomes unhinged and goes binge drinking. Although this semi-musical is based on A Christmas Carol, it quickly veers off the narrative path, colliding with It’s a Wonderful Life, Kenneth Lay, Leona Helmsley, “The Gift of the Magi,” and Little Nell.
