About This Show

New Jersey Tap Dance Ensemble (NJTAP) celebrates the company’s 12th anniversary with the performance of a new show: The Duke Ellington Legacy and the Harlem Renaissance. This one-night only show features dynamic performances by some of today’s leading tap artists including NJTAP soloists Maurice Chestnut, DeWitt Fleming, Jr., and Karen Callaway Williams, the NJTAP First Company Principal Dancers and the NJTAP Youth Company’s young artists. Live music is performed under the direction of J. Leonard Oxley, including selections from the Duke Ellington songbook, with guest vocalist Suzzanne Douglas (featured with Gregory Hines in the movie Tap).
