Pablo Aslan’s Avantango is an ensemble featuring some of the world’s leading tango musicians and dancers presenting breathtaking performances that showcase the tango as an ever-evolving art form, incorporating jazz improvisation and turning historic cliches upside down. Mixing the legendary music of Astor Piazzolla with contemporary themes and rhythms, the ensemble reclaims the tango as a living tradition.

The Avantango company is a vibrant collaboration of musicians, dancers, poets, singers, composers and choreographers committed to Tango as a meaningful expression of our times. The group consists of six musicians and four dancers, plus a guest singer. Led by bassist Pablo Aslan, the group is made up of Argentine natives residing in New York. The collective experience of the ensemble members encompasses practically every successful tango project in the last decades, from the Broadway hit Tango Argentino and Forever Tango to the tango projects of Yo-Yo Ma, Julio Iglesias, and Shakira, to the award-winning film Tango.

Avantango consists of musicians Pablo Aslan, Hector Del Curto, Oscar Feldman, Gustavo Casenave, Leonardo Suarez-Paz, Diego Urcola and vocalist Roxana Fontan. The dancers are Tony-nominated Carolina Zokalski and Diego Di Falco (Forever Tango), Antonio Cervilla “Junior,” Mariella Franganillo and Pablo Pugliese.
