About This Show

The Collegiate Chorale presents a concert staging of the 1945 Kurt Weill-Ira Gershwin musical, The Firebrand of Florence. Ted Sperling conducts.

Featuring a book by Gershwin and Edwin Justus Mayer, based on Mayer’s play The Firebrand, the show revolves around Florentine artist Benvenuto Cellini whose death by hanging sentence is pardoned by the Duke so that he can complete a previously commissioned sculpture.

The show stars Nathan Gunn as Benvenuto Cellini, Victoria Clark as the Duchess, Anna Christy as Angela, Terrence Mann as Duke of Florence, and Roger Rees as the narrator.
