The Footlight Players, under the direction of Nathaniel Green, perform the timeless Oscar Wilde classic, The Importance of Being Earnest. A delightful romp set in the early 1900’s, this “tongue in cheek” comedy of manners satirizes the excesses and pomposity of the upper classes and the convoluted conventions of the time. All this revolves around the pretenses and mistaken identity of its lead characters and resolves in the great realization at the end of the play of the true “importance of being earnest”. Wilde’s dialogue, always sophisticated and scintillating, make this a joyous theatrical experience.
