About This Show

Turn Tail in the Milky Way

An evening with Hiss Golden Messenger + Aoife O'Donovan
TERMS: Buying a ticket or being a guest at the venue is an agreement to comply with all of the venue’s discretionary rules and safety protocols, including but not limited to providing proof of vaccine and/or valid negative Covid-19 test documentation if required at time of event. Please read ALL rules and policies in full before proceeding with your purchase.
Grammy award-winning songwriter and musician Aoife O'Donovan is one of the most sought-after singers and songwriters of her generation. She has released 3 critically-acclaimed solo albums, is co-founder of the bands I’m With Her and Crooked Still, is the featured vocalist on The Goat Rodeo Sessions with Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer, and Chris Thile, and spent a decade contributing to the radio variety shows "Live From Here” and “A Prairie Home Companion”. Reflection, remembrances, and self-reckoning combine on Aoife O'Donovan's third solo album, Age of Apathy.
Songwriter and bandleader M.C. Taylor’s music is at once familiar, yet impossible to categorize. Elements from the American songbook—the steady, churning acoustic guitar and mandolin, the gospel emotion, the steel guitar tracings, the bobbing and weaving organ and electric piano—provide the bedrock for Taylor’s existential ruminations about parenthood, joy, hope, and loneliness—our delicate, tightrope balance of dark and light—that offer fully engaged contemporary commentary on the present. In his latest album, Quietly Blowing It, Taylor went looking for peace.

It’s safe to say that I wouldn’t do what I do now without the love and support of public schoolteachers. So I feel it’s my duty to give back.” – M.C. Taylor
