The Day Martin Buber Was Buried/To Love in Jerusalem

The 92nd Street Y celebrates the 55th anniversary of the State of Israel with the English language premieres of two radio plays by the late Israeli poet Yehuda Amichai. The Day Martin Buber Was Buried traces the gradual estrangement of a man and woman who fall in and out of love on the streets of Jerusalem. To Love in Jerusalem is Amichai’s playful depiction of a love affair that both challenges and honors the three religions of Jerusalem: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Adam Seelig directs, with live and recorded sound effects that evoke the ancient and modern sounds of Jerusalem.
