About This Show

Today, marriage equality is the law of the land and, for many LGBT Americans, being gay is no longer a well-kept secret. But it wasn’t always That Way. As John Domani, an accountant turning 60, looks back on the “spreadsheet” of his life, he realizes that for most of his life, he’s kept two sets of “books” — but only one of them was open. John shares 50 years of hilarious, poignant memories, from the silence of the 1960s to dealing with his devoutly religious mother, a health crisis, a longtime relationship that fate keeps impeding, and more. That Way presents a tuneful, panoramic portrait of the past, one that John desperately needs to accept before he can face the future.
