About this show

Rebecca Martin began her career with her group Once Blue, touring the US with such artists as Emmylou Harris, Squeeze, and Lilith Fair. Martin's latest solo effort, featuring some of her favorite standards, earned acclaim as one of 2002's top jazz records in The New York Times. "If [her music] is pop, it is pop that only a jazz musician could have thought of. It inhabits the various corners of the world occupied by Bill Frisell, Cassandra Wilson and Norah Jones." --Ben Ratliff, the New York Times. Her upcoming CD People Behave Like Ballads will be released on MAXJAZZ in May of 2004. Kate McGarry's sultry and sophisticated jazz vocals display both a reverence for traditional form and a flair for innovative styling. With her new CD Show Me, Kate becomes the first jazz vocalist to be signed to the prestigious Palmetto Records label. "NYC jazz vocalist Kate McGarry is a name to know, a superb stylist resistant to predictability or shtick. As heard on her new CD, Show Me, she restores faith in the art of jazz singing..." -Josef Woodard
