Aquarius Productions LLC presents Lee Blessing’s critically acclaimed play, Two Rooms.
The play, which was named in 1988 by Time magazine as “Best Play of the Year,” frames the love of a woman at home in the United States for her husband who is held prisoner in Beirut during the 80’s hostage crisis. A reporter’s machinations and the US government’s miscalculations ultimately affect the couple in the most profound way. Blessing tells a very personal story within the context of real global events, namely the ’80s Lebanon situation, when the U.S. Embassy as well as Marine troops on “peacekeeping” missions were attacked by Islamic Extremists. The play takes place between 1982 and 1992, during which 30 Westerners were kidnapped, the first being David Dodge, President of the American University of Beirut.
