About This Show

Turning up the heat in more ways than one, La MaMa E.T.C. is producing a series of four Saturday variety shows called The Heat is On! in a campaign to raise $100,000 for a new heating system for their Archive and exhibition space in the Annex building.

Combining music, dancing, singing, sketch comedy, burlesque, puppets, drag queens and more, these events will showcase the countless La MaMa E.T.C. artists and friends (all of whom are donating their time and talents) and will also include raffles and refreshments.

The April 28th performance will be hosted by acclaimed singer Dottie Maraschino and her pianist, Morris Goldberg, while the talent lineup includes sketch comedians (the Shenanigans Comedy Collective, CollaborationTown’s rebellious middle child, and Master Lee, skilled at using his black belt in karate to crack up audiences), singers (Ryan Doyle, a Jersey native raised on Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell and rebelling against the stuffiness of being classically trained), burlesque queens (Honi Harlow, a country girl with big glitter dreams), puppeteers (Melissa Arleth, who will work for foam), actors (Hal Fickett, fresh off of Keen Company’s Tea and Sympathy), and musical groups (Miss Angelina and the Jersey Girls, a sassy lady rapper backed up by sultry singers and dancers).
