The Bad Birthday: A Mexican Folktale

About This Show

Using puppets and live actors, The Bad Birthday tells the story of a twin brother and sister who decide to bake themselves a birthday cake because they can’t afford to buy one. Things start to go wrong when they ask their neighbors—whom they have helped with various chores— to provide the ingredients. The greedy neighbors agree to give what’s needed in exchange for pieces of the cake. The twins soon discover that they’ve promised all of the cake to other people! But, they also learn that all they really need to celebrate their birthday is each other. And the whole town learns the value of cooperation. Post-show, kids get to play games with the actors, and have the chance to cooperate with each other!
