That’s Not How Mahler Died is a hauntingly hypnotic mellow drama; technology is hidden behind a sultry glimpse into a noir-styled tale of adultery, obsession and voyeurism. Inspired by the real life affair between Gustav Mahler’s wife Alma Mahler (the famous personality who has been named the last femme-fatale) and the Bauhaus architect Walter Gropius. That’s Not How Mahler Died is set in the late 1950’s and finds private investigator Mike Sharpie encountering the same loneliness and preoccupations with death that marked the last year of composer Gustav Mahler’s life. Ryan Holsopple directs.
