About This Show

NativeAliens Theatre Collective presents Short Stories 6 for a limited engagement. NativeAliens premiered the first Short Stories in 1999, featuring four short plays from a gay or lesbian perspective submitted by writers from across the country. Based on the success of its 1999 festival, Short Stories has continued to expand and thrive each year since its inception. The following five works written from a gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender viewpoint are featured:

Smoking by Jeffery Kin. Directed by Herb Ouellette with Colin Dwyer and Nicholas Mitchell
A gay teenager in need of advice and support, reaches out to an adult
neighbor whom he believes might also be gay.

Click by Michael Bettencourt. Directed by Jennie Contuzzi with Peter Herrick, Randy Lichtenwalner and Beau Hauser
A play about whether hate can ever be moral. When Marlin reveals to Pinto what he did in the park that night, it changes the whole nature of the moral universe they inhabit.

A Hat for You by Colin P. Delaney. Directed by Nancy Rogers with Michael Ciriaco and Joseph J. Menino
A gay man expresses angst because his partner won’t wear a funny hat to a party. As the play unfolds, we discover it’s about a lot more than just the hat.

Vessels by Kim Yaged. Directed by Jeff Seabaugh with Sharon Proctor, Jennifer Salinas and Elaine Kilden
A surreal look at womanhood, lesbianism, and the Holocaust from the point of view of different women.

Oh Happy Day by Rich Orloff. Directed by Jodi Smith with Craig Bentley and William Reinking
Two men in a long-term relationship consider an unusual solution so they’ll no longer be living in sin.
