Rock 2: The New Rock Albers Show which has been performing before full houses since it opened in October 2003 has now been extended for additional performances through March and April.
Rock 2 is the sequel to the hit show The Rock Albers Show, which Albers performed before enthusiastic audiences and critics for more than three years, and won him back-to-back MAC Awards as Best Male Stand-up Comedian in 2002 and 2003.
Dubbed by his fans as “America’s comedy crusader,” Albers rants about American politics and pop culture in a style described by the New York Post as “audaciously original.” His subjects in the show range from the selection of Supreme Court Justices to an astrological imbalance in Congress. He also rants about James Bond, Corvettes, The Golden Girls, big weddings and the Lincoln Tunnel. He sings comedy parody songs about American icons Dr. Phil, Britney Spears and Cher–not to mention such American institutions as Wal-Mart and “The View” and the State of Oklahoma.
The show’s musical director and co-author is Dick Gallagher, who received the 2003 MAC Award for Best Musical Director. The show’s director and co-author is award-winning director and writer Stephen Rosenfield.
