Considered by many to be one of the greatest plays written in the last century, Rhinoceros tells the comic and not so absurd tale of people giving up their individuality to become rhinoceroses. The trend begins when a rhinoceros suddenly appears in a small town, trampling through its peaceful streets. Inconceivably, the townspeople begin to turn into rhinoceroses. Soon there are two, three, until the movement becomes universal and only one man is left in a world where all others have succumbed to the “beauty” of brute force, natural energy, and mindlessness of the herd. Christopher McElroen directs.
