About This Show

Response: Stories about What Happened is a collection of four short plays written in response to the tragic events of September 11th. The plays are:

Lovers Leapt by Leslie Bramm. Directed by Scott Levy
A play about a couple who join hands as they jump off of the World Trade Center

The New Sign by C. Rusch. Directed by Larry Rosen
Two workers in a southern U.S. town outside a military base put up signs in front of a restaurant and wonder what these signs should and shouldn’t say.

The Uncaring Dog by Leslie Bramm. Directed by Virginia Scott
An extended metaphor for the events of 9/11 involves a crippled young boy struggling with a dog at the end of a leash to prove how random fate can be.

No One written and directed by Julia Barclay
A meditation on where we are now, using the primary themes of non-violence, war, the need for adequate translators, and the identity of the “enemy.” A different group of actors read through the play each night.
