About This Show

Portraits is a solo performance piece inspired by Robert Mapplethorpe’s groundbreaking first sex photography show. A portrait of an artist emerges as we see through the eyes of the artist’s mother, Andy Warhol, his brother, Patti Smith, an irate gallery patron, Candy Darling, and his frat roommate — their responses to him, to the event, and to the sex portraits come to life.
