About This Show

Peter and I concerns itself with the mysteries surrounding the life and death of Michael Llewelyn Davies; one of the boys who inspired J.M. Barrie to create the character of Peter Pan in his classic tale Peter and Wendy. Michael both loved and loathed the Neverland stories. They were a major part of him but also a piece of his past that he could never escape. He struggled to find his own voice and identity separate from the famous character that he had inspired.

The main action of the play takes place approximately fifteen years after Peter and Wendy was written. Michael is now a student at Oxford. Throughout the course of the story, he falls in love with a fellow classmate, Rupert Buxton, and the two have a sordid and ultimately tragic affair. Michael’s journey is woven together with flashbacks from his past and in counterpoint to the famous tale of Peter and Wendy. Based entirely on true events, this new musical is brimming with questions of faith, loss, salvation, love and immortality.
