Minotaur tells the story of the Greek classic “monster” that lives in the depths of King Minos’ kingdom. He is regarded as fearsome and is loathed by all, especially Athenians who are regularly sacrificed for an
annual celebration held by the Minoan Royal Family. This is indeed that story except Colin Pink has cleverly turned the myth on its head creating a rather ridiculous Royal family who turn to having a war to solve all the problems at home and the Minotaur is in fact the most intelligent and sympathetic character in the whole kingdom. Apart from being grossly deformed, he is grossly misunderstood. And all of this
story is told in an updated, rather musical style (think hip-hop and techno!) so it is not only accessible to today’s audience but rather timely as well. This is a spirited production and will get you moving, laughing and rooting for the “bad guy” so to speak. Or at least understanding him a bit better.
