Ma-Yi Theater Company presents the world premiere of Middle Finger, written by MacArthur Foundation “genius” award recipient Han Ong. The play is an incisive look at growing up and parenting in today’s constantly negotiable moral climate. It follows the lives of Jacob Rodriguez and Benjamin Lunga, two teenage Filipino-American boys in a rigidly structured Catholic boys’ school, as they each chart a course for self-realization. Loosely inspired by Franz Wedekind’s Spring Awakening, the play tells of interwoven lives mapping out a uniquely modern American story that speaks with the immediacy and sharpness of the streets. Loy Arcenas directs.
