H.T. Chen & Dancers celebrate its 25th Anniversary with the world premiere of a new company work by Artistic Director H.T. Chen and select repertory from its 25 year history. The new Company work features a commissioned score by Composer Ushio Torikai, which will be performed live through a grant from the Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust Live Music for Dance Program.
H.T. Chen & Dancers was founded at La MaMa E.T.C. in 1978 and has evolved into one of the largest Asian-American dance institutions in New York . Its components include H.T. Chen & Dancers, a professional touring dance company, Arts Gate Center, a year-round school in Chinatown, and the Mulberry Street Theater, a venue which provides professional opportunities for emerging choreographers.
