Hamletmachine

Marking the 400th anniversary of the world’s most produced play, Shakespeare’s Hamlet is dismantled and recast for the postmodern epoch in Heiner Muller’s Hamletmachine. The play is a lamentation of, and unrelenting journey through, the violence and devastation of the 20th century–the bloodiest in human history. The show features Kurt Weill-inspired music and original lyrics by director Fred Newman.
