Five Twelfths By William Shakespeare

About the Show

A messenger arrives with life changing news, but is he what he seems? He’s known in town as Cesario, but in reality “he” is Viola, a young lady far from home who has disguised herself as a man to find work. So far so good — until she develops an inconvenient affection for her master, the local Duke, and Lady Olivia herself falls in love with “Cesario.” Meanwhile, Olivia’s drunken cousin Toby has other concerns: Malvolio, the haughty household steward, is forever admonishing Toby for his hedonistic lifestyle, and his holier-than-thou attitude is infuriating Toby and his friends. Together, they hatch a plot to make Malvolio take a fall in front of his revered mistress.

Twelfth Night is one of Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies, and this original five-man presentation – premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and now hitting New York with an all-new cast – brings its memorable cast of characters energetically to life.
