Comics for Kids

Lainie’s Angels holds its Spring Fundraiser: Comics for Kids, an evening of live comedy. Featured comedians include: Ellen Karis, Greg Vaccarello, Wally Collins, and Jessica Kirson. A formal live auction is held from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m., and a silent auction and wine tastings takes place throughout the evening.

In June 2000, Stathi and Emily Afendoulis of Edison, NJ created Lainie’s Angels, a non-profit organization established to assist parents whose children suffer from cancer and blood disorders. This was in reponse to the loss of their own 12-year-old daughter, Lainie, to Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. Through its Parent Advocate Program, the group recruits and trains parents whose children have had cancer or a blood disorder. In turn, these parents, or Angels, reach out to the families of sick children to provide advice, peer support and counseling.
