Bayard Rustin was one of the most important leaders in the American civil rights movement, but he received comparatively little media attention for his monumental work. Rustin’s gay identity and early communist affiliation meant that his contribution to the civil rights and peace movements would never be fully acknowledged. Hudson Guild Theatre Companypresents Civil Sex, a play by Brian Freeman about the life of this noted activist and inspirational leader. James Furlong directs.
