New York City
The title character of Carl the Second has one minor flaw; he is, in every sense of the word, ?second?. Born the second child, he can assist but never score; he is the standard by which women realize that their last boyfriend wasn?t all that bad, he is a human hand-me-down. Carl, a bookstore manager, has long since realized that he is doomed to live a long and secondary life, finding joy and inspiration in the plights of the great ?seconds? of literature: Captain Ahab, Charles Bovary, Jay Gatsby and Cliff Chatterley. However, he is faced with his ultimate challenge when a ?first? opportunity presents itself. Marc Palmieri’s new comedy is directed by George Demas.
