About This Show

The Farm Productions announces the official premiere of the remounted, comedic, improvisational spelling bee musical,
C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E, conceived and directed by Rebecca Feldman. The play, which features audience participation, musical numbers, dance and video, portrays the pressure and intensity of a regional spelling bee as a group of children (portrayed by adults) face off to determine who is to be the greatest speller. As each character’s foibles, quirks and ticks become clear, the dark, underbelly of the world of Spelling is unearthed. The play opens with the cast and the addition of six guest spellers from the audience who join the actors. A unique level of improvisation adds additional comic effect as the main characters and audience contestants both must spell the words correctly, following the strict rules of the Howard-Scripps National Spelling bee guidelines. Song, dance and video interviews are sprinkled throughout the action breaking up the rhythm of the competition.
