About This Show

Cardboard Celebration Circus, Bread & Puppet’s kids’ show, is more elaborate than the circus for adults, and more silly. It brings back many of Bread and Puppet’s favorite kid-acts: Pinky the big elephant, large apes, The Rotten Idea Theater Company (with Kaspers); birds (black and white), a Tiger Act, a Stilt Act, and even some acts that are spectacular but not necessarily for kids.

Last year, there was an act about Wal-Mart. This year, topical portions will include a CAFTA act (about the Central American Free Trade Agreement) and the Wedding of Church and State. If the parents and gramps don’t understand, they can ask the kids. Once again, all pieces will be created by Schumann with input from the company.

Both this show and The National Circus and Passion of the Correct Moment are “managed” by the Architects of the Correct Moment, a group of red and white clowns. Both plays will be accompanied by a brass band, singing and miscellaneous gongs and horns. Schumann has sculpted and painted all of the major masks and puppets.

Appropriate for all ages.
