Blood and Water is a one-woman show written and performed by Rachel Brill, and is a modern-day Romeo and Juliet set in New York City. This show takes the audience on a journey through the forbidden yet passionate relationship between a Jewish woman and a Palestinian man. The couple falls desperately in love but find themselves on opposite sides of a conflict that is larger than themselves. Forced to question everything they've always known to be true, and challenge political beliefs, religion, societal, and familial pressures, the couple must determine if love is a force strong enough to conquer all.
Told through the perspective of the female protagonist, Blood and Water is a coming-of-age story where one woman must discover her own identity when she finds herself in a controversial relationship, where something so simple as love is caught in the crossfires of a world divided into an us and them.
