As the first in a series of plays about the elements by Irish Fulbright Scholar, Darragh Martin, An Air Balloon Across Antarctica follows a female explorer ballooning across Antarctica to scatter her son’s ashes, accompanied by a mildly obese hamster with a weakness for diet cereal and a burning desire to become the first Antarctic lemming. Drifting across the emptiest place on earth, they discover the weight of memories, the color of cold and the shape of sadness.
