About This Show

A double bill of works by Karl Anderson and Kate Weare

Tackling the gamut of twisted insights on human relations, Anderson’s intuitive approach to structure allows for the posterity of movement in his dance. Seemingly absurdist interactions reveal a nebulous world of fragile intimacies rooted in subtle and precise disconnections. Psychological and associative, our basic assumptions are gently and humorously nudged off a cliff.

Kate Weare premieres three new works, a duet with dance partner Melanie Maar and two intertwined solos titled “Dirt.” Weare’s work is known for exploring the lineage of the moving body, nascent and primal, modern and self-aware. Using physicality so focused it seems inevitable, the dances tap into the stubborn, fragile, and forceful nature of the living.
