About This Show

In the kind of season finale that happens only once a generation, Alan Gilbert and the Philharmonic perform all five of Beethoven’s majestic piano concertos, with one of the supreme musicians of our time as soloist. Don’t miss this extraordinary 3-week immersion in the masterpieces of Beethoven, the brilliance of Artist-in-Residence Yefim Bronfman, and the mastery of Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic

In the second week of the festival, June 18-21, Bronfman performs Beethoven’s Second and Third Piano Concertos. The New York Times writes “Mr. Bronfman can play anything… an astonishing performance… brilliant and triumphant”. Between the charming humor of the Second and brilliant melodies of the Third is the world premiere of Songs by Sean Shepherd, praised for his “kaleidoscopic use of orchestral color” (The New York Times). Alan Gilbert conducts.
