The Jackie Wilson Story chronicles the highs and the lows in the life of Jackie Wilson — an entertainer admired and emulated by Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson — from his first hit song, “Reet Petite” in 1957, to his tragic death in 1984. Written, produced and directed by Jackie Taylor, the founder and executive director of the Black Ensemble Theater, the show features an energetic ensemble of 11actors and seven musicians, the musical showcases more than 25 songs from the late 1950’s and early 60’s, including such Wilson hits as “Lonely Teardrops,” “(Your Love Keeps Liftin’ Me) Higher & Higher,” “Baby Workout” and “Doggin’ Me Around.”
