The Foundry Theatre presents the world premiere of Talk, hosted by the Public Theater/NYSF.

In the age of McCarthy and the Beat poets, a controversial African-American artist, Archer Aymes, became an overnight sensation for his first book, Mother and Son — 10 years later, he was found dead in a prison cell. Tonight, a young artist has invited five fiery panelists to unearth the meaning of Aymes’ legacy from the mysteries of his life. Talk is a fierce, theatrical exploration of identity, art, and the struggle to maintain an original voice, from one of the most original voices of our time, Carl Hancock Rux. The Public Theater hosts two panels on Saturday, April 6, beginning at 1:00pm. On Genet’s THE BLACKS: memories.thoughts.recollections. 1961-1964 features Vinie Burrows and Clebert Ford, who have travelled with the show around the world. beatniks & militants & hipsters & barflies & firebrands: Negro/Black Radical Arts and Politics 1958-1964 focuses on art, politics, and the unique lower East Side-Harlem connection between black artists.
