About This Show

Rafael Goldwaser presents his solo performance S’brent, an adaptation of three well-known Sholem Aleichem short stories. Goldwaser combines the traditions of French mime and Yiddish folk literature. S’brent (It’s Burning) reintroduces audiences to three colorful characters from the picturebook of Jewish shtetl lore– a mother, a petty insurance swindler, and a short-telling philosopher — all of whom Aleichem (1859 – 1916) first brought to life in the first person short stories.

S’brent is performed in French and Yiddish with English supertitles throughtout.
