About This Show

Jungian philosopher Erich Neumann said poetry has the ability to “shake off the disguise imposed on myth by time…so it can emerge again in its original form from the primordial font of myth.” This piece is poetry trying to unearth the original face of mythical Eurydice. Orpheus tried to get her back from Hades but ruined it when he looked behind him to make sure she was still there. Poet Rainer Maria Rilke thinks she was fine with that and happy to be free, and dead finally. Lots of women in mythology seem happy to be dead, like it’s more natural for them to just be merged with infinity. EEEEwhatisthesoundofthisshadow interrogates otherwise.
