Araby

Araby is singer /songwriter and composer Chris Rael’s first performance piece, and the composer and front man of Church of Betty – enters this artistic arena with a bang.  Rael brings a fierce yet sensitive intelligence to the emerging literary based performance scene. Araby is a uniquely structured “chamber musical” re-telling of James Joyce’s Dubliners.  In Araby, Rael re-conjures Joyce’s 15 short stories in 16 songs with original music and lyrics that draw on and accent the emotions Joyce sought to illustrate in Dubliners, but that are common to all eras and cultures.
