About This Show

At the end of September, José Luis Rodriguez gave all at Danny’s a magical evening, refusing to confine himself to traditional harp pieces of the classical variety and experimenting with jazz and other types of music from the Broadway/Pop songbook. Many complimentary messages came in from audience members and staff, all asking for him to be given a return engagement. Now, he’s back!

José began playing the harp at a very young age, and studied with some of the masters in his native Puerto Rico, including José Serrano and Alfredo Rolando Ortíz. Originally, he was a member of a regional band that played at major venues in Puerto Rico. Soon he was asked to play solo harp at chic hotels such as the Caribe Hilton and the Ponce Hotel, enjoying critical acclaim. He went on to perform at La Fortealeza (the Puerto Rican governor’s state residence), where he performed for Mikhail Gorbachev, former president of the USSR, and provided many special evenings at the Puerto Rican Center for the Performing Arts.
