An evening exploration of “The Life and Death(s) of Alan Turing,” a new American opera by composer Justine F. Chen and librettist David Simpatico, inspired by the life of groundbreaking computer scientist, Alan Turing. A concert reading of the work in development is followed by a discussion with the writers and featured artists, exploring the genesis of the opera, and the challenges of re-imagining iconic figures for the opera stage.
Led by rising conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya, the concert stars baritone Jonathan Michie as Alan Turing, with soprano Susannah Biller, bass-baritone Joseph Beutel, mezzo-soprano Elise Quagliata, bass-baritone Justin Hopkins and tenor Daniel T. Curran, and a choral ensemble from MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale).
