About the Show

Georg Buchner’s Danton’s Death tackles questions of politics, personal identity, and ideals as he chronicles the final days of Georges Danton, Camille Desmoulins, and their associates, who were guillotined on April 5, 1794. As the bloodthirsty sans-culottes mobs of Paris struggle for their daily bread, Danton confronts political opponent Robespierre over their diverging revolutionary philosophies, and undergoes his own existential crisis in the face of imminent death. Howard Brenton’s adaptation of the work is presented by the Prospect Theater Company and directed by Cara Reichel.

There is an additional performance on Saturday, February 23 at 2:00pm.
