About This Show

THIS SHOW HAS BEEN INDEFINITELY POSTPONED.

1965. Andy Warhol is at a career crossroads. Having failed to take the Pop Art world by storm as soon as he hoped, Warhol finds the key to fast fame in the form of Edith Minturn Sedgwick, a ravishing, cultivated, rich, and buoyant descendant of the prestigious Sedgwick family dating back to Colonial times. As hungry for fame and adoration as Andy is for status and prestige, Edie becomes an overnight fixture in Andy’s life, the living embodiment of a Factory ‘Superstar’. The pair quickly transforms themselves into the quintessential Gotham media couple. Edie dyes her hair silver to match Andy’s and cuts it the same length, which enables them to pull off an astounding media hoax whereby Andy masquerades as Edie and vice versa. While this exchange of identities is exhilarating, it is also deeply confusing to both parties. In denial about his deeper feelings toward Edie, Andy desperately strives to retain her as the centerpiece of his Factory crew. But Edie has deeper ambitions of her own – to become a model and film star. Her ascent is rapid, and she soon graces the pages of Vogue, Life, Time, and the New York Times. But the duo’s frenetic quest for fame-at-any-price ultimately proves too unrestrained, competitive, and destructive for either one of them to handle.
