The enchanting dance styles of Iwami Kagura and Nihon Buyo, a world-acclaimed Bunraku puppet troupe and a fashion show of wedding kimonos, will be featured in Ages Of Enchantment: JPA Cultural Repertoires 2017, a showcase of Japanese performing arts and culture.
The showcase has three live performance categories: Kimono Show, Japanese traditional dances, and Japanese folk performing arts. One of many highlights will be the master puppeteers Ningyo-joruri/Bunraku. Before each live performance, the audience will hear a narrated explanation and see photos and videos. This will help everyone of all cultures to have a better understanding of these unique features of Japanese culture that have been passed down for 400 years!
It's a splendid introduction or reintroduction to high folk arts of Japan's Osaka, Akita, and Shimane prefectures. It will be presented by Japan Performing Arts Inc. (JPA), a cultural organization led by founder, curator, and choreographer Yuko Hamada.
