About This Show

The Oneida Community was front-page news for their revolutionary practices – they coined the expression “free love,” back in the 1800’s – but today, the only thing most people know about them is the silverware they made. As “Bible Communists,” they believed we shouldn’t own things or people – and should avoid falling in love and the possessiveness that goes with it. But when the community finally becomes prosperous, they undertake a radical new program. And everything changes.
