About This Show

Dubbed "one of the most exciting pianists in contemporary jazz" by The Guardian UK, pianist and composer Lynne Arriale has performed on international concert and festival stages over the past 25 years, "consistently praised as having a 'singular voice' as a pianist, bandleader and composer."

Arriale was the first prize winner of the 1993 Great American Jazz Piano Competition, and JazzTimes has said of her, “Lynne Arriale’s music lies at the synaptic intersection where brain meets heart, where body meets soul. She is one of jazzdom’s most intensely unique voices." Her 16 critically acclaimed albums have topped the Jazzweek Radio Charts, and have received “Best of” honors in major publications.
In addition to performing at more than two dozen global music festivals, including many of the world's most renowned jazz festivals like Montreux, North Sea, Monterey and Montréal, Lynne also performed as part of the "100 Golden Fingers" Japan tour.
Her most recent record, The Lights Are Always On, which features Jasper Somsen on bass and E.J. Strickland on drums, was released on April 8th, 2022 worldwide. "The Lights Are Always On" honors healers, caregivers, truth tellers, and defenders of democracy in the wake of COVID-19 and the January 6th Insurrection.
Of this release, Jazz Journal remarked, “Lynne Arriale’s 16th album demonstrates that she is clearly one of the best contemporary jazz pianists.“
