KREWE DU VIEUX PARADE PARTY with RAM from Haiti

Each year just a little over two weeks before Mardi Gras Day, one of New Orleans' most witty and raucous renegade parades, Krewe du Vieux, kicks off parade season right in our neighborhood. Rolling from the Marigny and through the French Quarter (Vieux Carré) into the Central Business District, Snug Harbor is nestled neatly in the middle of it all. This year, the KdV route passes by Frenchmen Street on the way to the Vieux Carré. 

For Krewe du Vieux night, Snug Harbor removes the Music Room wall and opens up the place for one big three-hour party where the Carnival music & culture of New Orleans' Caribbean sister, Ayiti, merges with the first weekend of New Orleans' Mardi Gras parades and street style on one of the city's hippest streets…  

RAM, the band founded by Richard A. Morse in 1990 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, are stars in Haiti and among Haitian audiences in the diaspora, as well as world music fans and drum heads everywhere. As of late 2022, they've relocated to New Orleans, a city that’s ready to hear their unique music.

The band, which features Lunise Morse on lead vocal, combines William Morse's electric guitar with vodou drummers and traditional one-note Haitian trumpets, called kone (as in cornet). Their style, known as mizik rasin (roots music), draws on traditional vodou musics of Haiti to create an original, intense, highly rhythmic vodou-rock sound. 

RAM has released seven albums; most recently RAM 7: August 1791. In 1993, their Haitian hit “Dreams Come True (Ibo Lele)” was featured on the double-platinum soundtrack of Jonathan Demme’s award-winning film Philadelphia. 

In 2022, in the face of turmoil in Haiti that made it impossible for the band to perform, RAM relocated as a group to New Orleans. They’re now a New Orleans band, building a local audience as they adapt to their new musical environment in unpredictable and exciting ways. 

The first 50 Tickets for tonight's show are guaranteed at just $10 in advance and will go up to $15 – $20, but capacity is very limited, so advance tickets are strongly suggested in order to secure your spot inside during parade night. Tickets will be sold, cash only, at the door, and only as space remains available, based on capacity at time of arrival. This is standing room only show, with limited first-come, first-served seating. 

Restaurant and Bar doors open at 5:00pm for food and beverage service. 

Parade begins at 6:30pm and first passes by our corner around 7pm. 

RAM plays from 9pm to Midnight.  

Kitchen closes at 11pm. 

Bar closes at 1am. 

Ticket Holders receive re-entry wristbands to allow for in and out on Frenchmen Street all night, as capacity permits. No admission permitted inside the front door without ticket/wristband after 7:00pm. 

Because we open up our whole space as one big in & out party on this night, we do not accept table reservations for dinner in the restaurant tonight. Full dining room service is available from 5:30pm – 10:30pm tonight, but is strictly walk-up first-come, first-served, based on availability upon arrival. Host will operate a Wait List via text message. 

Snug Harbor is no longer requiring masks nor vaccination or negative test proofs for entry. However, we gladly welcome all guests and staff to mask when & where you choose. Otherwise entry is at everyone's own risk.  Must be 21+ to enter WITH VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID, No Exceptions. 

With the limited capacity, it is advised that you purchase advance tickets or arrive very early! This show WILL sell out.
