About This Show

Christien Bold, a rising young vocalist and New Orleans native, aims to share with his audience, young and old, the rich musical tradition of New Orleans that he has been so fortunate to be a part of in recent years. A tradition that fused with his own inner groove.

Christien has performed with the Ellis Marsalis Trio, the Wess "Warmdaddy" Anderson Quintet, and Jesse McBride & Next Generation. Under the tutelage of these great mentors, he has grown to understand the power of music as a tool for open and honest expression. Today, as he branches out on his own, presenting some of his new music, he sends messages of personal change, peace, self-love, and the importance of mental health in modern day America.
As always on Fridays here at Snug, we can expect selections from The Ellis Marsalis Songbook, among each guest artist's own repertoire, as Fridays were our late great piano patriarch's weekly residency on the Snug stage for over 30 years, and we continue his incredibly influential legacy on Friday nights by featuring musicians who worked directly with Ellis, members of his bands over the years, and of course the music of his talented musician sons.

Tonight, he presents his own Quintet, featuring
Christien Bold – vocals
David McKissick – trumpet
Eric Merchant – guitar
Jason Stewart – bass
Trenton O'Neal – drums
