New York City
Direct from Australia, the one-of-a-kind physical, comedic duo, The Umbilical Brothers, perform their hit show, Thwak. David Collins and Shane Dundas use puppetry and slapstick to entertain (and occasionally involve) audiences in their mix of tightly-choreographed mayhem. When combined, these ingredients create an imaginative world, full-tilt with adventures, where anything can happen.
The Umbilical Brothers were formed in 1996 and quickly gained international recognition and phenomenal success with high profile performances both on major television networks and at comedy festivals worldwide. After performing together for seven years, their routines are highly scripted and workshopped. When their style was first seen in Australia, it briefly triggered a wave of copycats, none of which have been as successful as the originals. The Umbilical Brothers have performed on The Late Show with David Letterman and on Broadway. They have also performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and at the Sydney Opera House.
