Captured live from the Gran Teatre del Liceu

This bold, modern production of Verdi’s Il Trovatore from the historic Barcelona opera house Gran Teatre del Liceu features four of the most talented singers in the world. Fiorenza Cedolins, Marco Berti, Luciana D’Intino, and Vittorio Vitelli all shine in this operatic classic, which features the popular “Anvil Chorus.”
Count Di Luna and Manrico are rivals for Lady Leonora’s love. When she declares her love for Manrico, both suitors duel. Although Manrico has the chance to kill Di Luna, a mysterious force within him allows Di Luna to live. That force, revealed later in the opera, is a fraternal bond: Manrico and Di Luna are actually brothers, separated at birth by a gypsy who placed a curse on Di Luna. The opera tells their story of mistaken identities, fraternal and maternal bonds, love, and revenge.
